Three young people from Gainesville are among this year’s winners in the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials’ (GALEO) Leyendas Essay Contest.
The organization celebrates all the submissions that “uplifted the work of farmworkers and social justice activists of the Latinx communities and other marginalized communities.”

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Category:
1st Place: Alexander Maldonado, Gainesville, GA
2nd Place: Cindy Arroyo, Gainesville, GA
3rd Place: Leonel Galvan, Gainesville, GA
They were recognized at the State Capitol recently.
