Ga.’s Sheriff of the Year; Gville parents fighting FDA; Cumming demonstrators

*Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith has been named the state’s Sheriff of the Year by the Georgia Sheriffs Association. Smith was cited for his leadership and service, especially following the Apalachee school mass shooting last fall.

* A Gainesville couple is advocating for their daughter Hope, who has a rare disease, after she lost access to a life-changing drug. They are reaching out to Congress and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) to regain access to the medication. *Protesters gathered on the sidewalks in downtown Cumming Friday to show support for veterans on the 81st anniversary of D-Day and to protest President Trump and many of the policies of his administration. It was part of a nationwide day of demonstrations organized by American Opposition, which said on its website that demonstrations were planned in all 50 states. What is American Opposition?
