‘Frost on the pumpkin’

It was a frosty start to Black Friday in Gainesville and other parts of north Georgia Friday morning as the coldest weather of the season settled in. And more of the same is likely the next few nights before things began to warm up a bit.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says the low in Gainesville Friday morning (recorded at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport) was 36, occurring between 7:00-8:00.

The outlook through the weekend calls for lows of 28, 30, and 28 Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night, respectively. And for the early part of the week, lows in the 20s will linger through Tuesday night, bottoming out at 25 Monday.

Daytime highs will hold in the mid- to upper 40s through Tuesday before warming into the 50s the rest of the week. Winds through the period are expected to be mostly light except for Sunday when gusts of up to 20 mph are forecast.
