FCSO: Sugar Hill man arrested following chase

A Sugar Hill man was arrested recently after leading two Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies on a nighttime, high-speed chase .

FORSYTH CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (FCSO) NARRATIVE:

“While patrolling the area of Buford Dam Road, Deputy White witnessed a truck fail to maintain his travel lane 3 times. Knowing that this is a sign of possible impairment, Deputy White attempted to pull the truck over. The driver of the truck showed no signs he was going to pull over and even “blacked out” the vehicle by turning his lights off…

Deputy Nguyen wasn’t far from the chase, so he joined in. The driver of the truck showed no regard for anyone else on the road. He went around a SUV at speeds of over 70mph and ran the red light at Sanders Rd. and Marketplace (Boulevard)…

Deputy Nguyen attempted a PIT maneuver at Mary Alice Park Rd and Marketplace Blvd., but the PIT was unsuccessful…The truck continued on Marketplace Blvd. and turned behind Ashley’s Furniture where Deputy Nguyen successfully spun the truck and Deputy White pinned it in.

The driver, 22-year-old Christopher Flores-Magana of Sugar Hill, was clearly impaired, he reeked of alcohol, had bloodshot/watery eyes and had sluggish reactions. In the truck multiple open alcoholic containers were located within his reach.

He was charged with Felony Fleeing, DUI-Alcohol, Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Operating a Vehicle Without Lights Required, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane.”
