The Flowery Branch City Council (FBCC) is scheduled to consider a rezoning request for a tract of land on Gainesville Street when it meets Thursday night as well as the city’s tax rate for the coming fiscal year.
The rezoning request is being made by Edge City Properties which is asking that 9.3 acres be rezoned from Planned Unit Development (PUD) to Residential II (R-2). The applicant intends to construct eleven single-family detached homes on the site.
Also, Thursday the council will hold first reading on the proposed property tax rate for Fiscal Year 2025, which starts July 1. The proposed rate is 3.264 mills, the same as the current rate. Second reading will be held at a called meeting of the council June 20.
The council will also hear a report on a request to construct a convenience store on a vacant lot at 4714 Hog Mountain Road. The owner of the property is Waffle House which is seeking a Conditional Use Permit for the tract.
