FBCC to consider artificial turf for pavilion, amphitheater

The Flowery Branch City Council (FBCC) will be asked Thursday to consider spending nearly $200,00 to have artificial turf installed at the city’s market pavilion and amphitheater.

“With lots of foot traffic from walking, playing, dancing and sitting on the lawns the current sod is not able to sustain its durability,” according to a memo including in the agenda for Thursday night’s council meeting. “The lawn at the market pavilion currently has dead spots, it holds water in multiple locations, in one spot the yard has settled and is uneven.”

The memo goes on to say that the synthetic grass will be “low-maintenance” and “natural” in appearance.

The cost is broken down this way:

Market Pavilion $53,298.10 (Materials $33,873.10 & installation $17,615)
Amphitheater $135,875.69 (Materials $88,225.69 & installation $42,900)
