E. Hall man facing 8 charges in connection with incident with HCSO deputies

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Warrant Service Unit deputies arrested a Gainesville man late last week in connection with an incident the week before where he reportedly ran from deputies during a DUI traffic stop. In addition to DUI, charges include obstruction of an officer and fleeing/attempting to elude.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“Kevin Ray Pressley, 46, of Lula, was booked into the Hall County Jail on Friday afternoon, May 30.

According to preliminary details, HCSO deputies responded to a call about a man sitting in a pickup truck at a stop sign for an extended period late Saturday afternoon, May 24. Responding deputies saw the man in the driver’s seat drinking alcohol when they arrived at Victoria Lane and Noah Way.

When the deputy activated emergency blue lights on his patrol vehicle, the driver, Kevin Ray Pressley, 46, of Lula, sped off to his residence in the 6700 block of Victoria Lane, swerving in the roadway as he drove. Two children were riding bicycles near the road as Pressley fled. When he arrived home, he ran inside.

Deputies obtained permission from residents, entered the home and found Pressley in a bedroom. He refused to obey multiple verbal commands by deputies and was tased after struggling against their efforts to arrest him. Hall County Fire Rescue evaluated Pressley and transported him to Northeast Georgia Medical for a suspected prescription overdose. (He was arrested upon his release from the hospital.)

Deputies obtained arrest warrants for the following crimes.

  • Obstruction of an officer (felony)
  • Fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer (felony)
  • Obstruction of an officer (misdemeanor)
  • Obstruction of an officer (misdemeanor)
  • DUI of alcohol (misdemeanor)
  • Open container violation (misdemeanor)
  • Failure to maintain lane (misdemeanor)
  • Speeding (misdemeanor)

Following arrest, Pressley posted $22,490 bond and was released from jail on Friday evening.”
