*A scam text message claiming to be from the “Georgia State Department of Motor Vehicles” (there is no such thing) is circulating in the state, falsely informing recipients of an outstanding traffic ticket and threatening suspension of vehicle registration or license if payment is not made. The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) warns drivers to delete the message immediately and not click on the fraudulent link provided. The DDS does not contact individuals for money or confidential information. Drivers are reminded to verify the status of their license or vehicle registration only through the official DDS website.
