Drought quickly expanding in Ga

Drought conditions in Georgia expanded over the past week by 34 percent and now cover two-thirds of the state.

Hall County and the rest of northeast Georgia are included in those areas where the drought exists. In fact, conditions have worsened in several northeast counties during the past seven days. All or parts of Rabun, Habersham, White, Lumpkin, Towns and Union are now considered “moderately” dry as opposed to “abnormally” dry for the rest of our corner of the state as well as most of Georgia.

And only northwest, west central and middle Georgia are deemed drought-free by the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The level of Lake Lanier? 1071.9, the same as a week ago.
