*(GEORGIA NEWS NETWORK) – In Richmond County (Augusta), the sheriff’s office, along with community members and local nonprofits, is implementing a new curfew for their young people this summer. This comes after a 16-year-old was shot after an incident involving two gangs over the weekend. People under the age of 18 will be required to stay off the streets between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. during the week and between midnight and 5 a.m. on weekends.
*After a 31-years, Atlanta News First (WANF Channel 46) is shelving its affiliation with CBS to become an independent station, meaning it will have no network affiliation. CBS is now moving to WUPA, Channel 69. The changes will take place Aug. 16, according to WABE. Why the move? Gray Media, parent company of WANF, says the change will help the company increase its income by giving it more control over its programming, freeing up commercial time for local ads
*Some Republicans who voted for it – including Georgia’s Marjorie Taylor Greene, an ardent Trump supporter – are now having second thoughts about President Trump’s budget that narrowly passed the House last week. According to the New York Times, Greene said that she had been unaware that the mega-bill she voted for would block states from regulating artificial intelligence for a decade. “Full transparency, I did not know about this section,” Ms. Greene posted on social media, calling it a violation of states’ rights and adding that she “would have voted NO if I had known this was in there.” Nebraska Rep. Mike Flood is also having regrets.
