*Several Berry College students recently won a total of $29,000 for their business ideas, including a student from Cumming. Emma Harrison was awarded $5,000 through the Bettyann O’Neill Innovation Fund. A psychology and marketing major, Harrison founded Emma’s Plate, a content creation brand to connect with people through recipes.
*The North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) Foundation recently awarded 126 scholarships totaling $46,654 for the 2024 fall semester. Included are three for students from Hall County: Ashley Uscanga, Gainesville and Amanda Williams and Penny Youngblood of Clermont. The amounts of the scholarships range from $100-$1,000 and are for use in paying for tuition, fees, books, and dormitory expenses.
*Jackson County Manager Kevin Poe has been reappointed to serve as the Defined Pension Benefit Board Representative for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG). Poe has been County Manager for Jackson County for 14 years and currently serves as Chairman of the ACCG Defined Pension Benefit Board of Trustees.
