GDOT NEWS RELEASE:
“The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is proud to announce the awarding of a safety improvement project on Old Cornelia Highway in Hall County. The project, identified as PI #0019961, will include the installation of rumble strips and pavement marking upgrades along a 7.59-mile stretch of roadway—from State Route 52 to East Main Street.
The contract, valued at $125,419.00, has been awarded to TRP Construction Group, LLC, a firm recognized for its roadway safety expertise. Construction is anticipated to begin soon and is scheduled for completion by April 30, 2026, weather permitting.
The improvements will include rumble strip installations at key locations to help reduce roadway departure crashes, along with upgraded pavement markings to improve visibility and driver awareness.
“Projects like this represent our ongoing commitment to improving roadway safety for drivers across Northeast Georgia,” said a GDOT District 1 spokesperson. “With over seven miles of enhancements on a heavily traveled corridor, we’re taking meaningful steps to reduce crash risks and keep communities connected safely.”
Motorists are urged to be alert for construction activity, obey posted signage, and reduce speeds in work zones.
