A Commerce woman and a truck driver from Habersham County were seriously injured Wednesday night when, according to the state patrol, the woman turned into the path of the 18-wheeler.
STATE PATROL NARRATIVE :
“On May 21, 2025, at 5:07 p.m., Troopers responded to a two-vehicle serious injury accident on State Route 365 (Cornelia Highway) northbound at the intersection of Whitehall Road (North of Gainesville .)
The investigation revealed a 2012 Silver Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Tiana Wheeler, was traveling south in the left turn lane on SR 365, attempting to make a left turn onto Whitehall Road.
A 2003 Red Volvo tractor-trailer, driven by Pedro Martinez, was traveling north in the right lane on SR 365. The driver of the Silverado failed to yield while turning left and was struck on the right side by the front of the tractor-trailer.
State Route 365 northbound was closed for approximately an hour and a half for the investigation.
Charges are pending.”
