Coming. Maybe. A new option for getting to the Atlanta airport

Hall countians may have an additional way to get to the Atlanta airport if Gwinnett County officials get their way.

County officials have given their blessings to a sales tax referendum in November that would clear the way for a $17 billion expansion of Gwinnett’s public transportation system. Its passage would lead to a 30-year, one percent special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST). The money would be used for new transit routes, options and facilities.

Two new airport routes would be included. One would originate at the I-985 park and ride lot near the Hall-Gwinnett County line.

Tax collections would begin in 2025.
