*Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) is suspending gender-affirming care for transgender kids. The health system tells the AJC it has made a system-level decision to be fully compliant with Georgia Senate Bill 140 and recent executive orders. The Trump administration has been threatening to pull funding if agencies do not roll back on gender-affirming care. CHOA says they hope this change will be temporary.
*The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) is handing out thousands of bonuses to Georgia teachers. The initiative is called the Quality Rated Workforce Bonuses and will give more than 34,000 childcare professionals a $500 bonus. Eligible staff at highly rated childcare programs identified by DECAL will be given the bonus.
*Peachtree City Police have identified the suspect who broke into a high school and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of band equipment. The suspect’s mother recognized him on social media and turned him in to the police. Surveillance video showed the 19-year-old former student roaming the halls of McIntosh High School and stealing instruments valued at over $36,000.
