Braselton man facing robbery, other charges

Oakwood Police say they have solved a five-month-old robbery case.

Sgt. Stewart Webb said Monday the incident that led to the charges against 22-year-old Michael Johson of Braselton unfolded on January 26. That’s when officers responded to a call at the Jameson Inn on Thurmon Tanner Parkway.

The victim said she had spent the night there with Johnson and that when she woke up, he was “going through her wallet and stealing $600,” Sgt. Webb said. In addition, the victim says she later found out he had used her cellphone to transfer another $150 to himself.

He said Johnson left the motel and called a taxi and left the area.

Webb says he secured a warrant charging Johnson with Sudden Snatch, and he was arrested Friday.

He’s also charged with:

*BATTERY FAMILY VIOLENCE ACT

*CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY 2ND DEGREE

*AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/SPOUSE/PARENTS/STEPPARENTS/FOSTER PARENTS* FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR A TRAFFIC VIOLATION

However, Sgt. Webb says those charges were not filed by Oakwood authorities and he had not heard from the agency that filed them.

Johnson was released from the Hall County Jail Sunday on $5,700 bond.
