Body found at Stone Mountain; 40+ dogs found in animal cruelty case; Man dies saving granddaughters

*A burned body was found near the top of Stone Mountain Saturday. Park officials say the remains were discoved by a visitor who then called 911. The caller did not provid any further details. They also did not leave a name or number for authorities to contact them directly. The body was taken to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner for identification and determination cause of death. Park officials tell WSB-TV that despite the ongoing case, the park continued to operate as normal.  

*Five people have been arrested in Bartow County for animal cruelty after 47 dogs were found in poor condition, with 10 of them dead, inside and outside of a home on Old Tennessee Road. The dogs were discovered in kennels in the backyard, inside the house, and in a U-Haul truck with no air conditioning or ventilation. Fox 5 Atlanta reports the surviving dogs were examined by a veterinarian, and 16 had to be euthanized due to their poor condition. The remaining 18 dogs are being quarantined and closely monitored for their health.  

*A Dacula man is dead saving his twin granddaughters. The family of 78-year-old Manuel Javier Pinzon told Channel Two that the eight-year-old girls were trying to visit with a deer in his Ewing Chapel Road backyard when a limb fell earlier this week. He was hit by a 20-foot branch after shoving them out of the way. The limb was reported to weigh 75 pounds
