Beefing up security at NGMC Barrow

After last year’s mass shooting at Apalachee High School in Barrow County, officials at the county’s lone hospital looked at ways to help patients, their families, visitors and staff feel even safer.

So, beginning today (Thursday) the front entrance at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Barrow will be open Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. “If you are visiting outside those hours or on the weekend, please enter through our Emergency Department, where our security team will greet you and provide you with a visitor’s pass,” a Facebook posting says.

“These updates are all about making sure our hospital stays a safe and healing place for everyone who walks through our doors,” the posting concludes.
