An Alzheimer’s breakthrough? Commercial construction boom; MTG just says ‘no’

*Georgia researchers new discovery may lead to memory restorage in Alzheimer’s patients. Georgia Tech researchers are focusing on Alzheimer’s disease, which affects 1 in 9 people aged 65 and older. The study found that inhibitory neurons, become quiet in Alzheimer’s patients. Fox 5 Atlanta reports that this research could lead to new ways to manipulate brain activity to improve memory and spatial learning in those with the disease. The team is hopeful that their work will help individuals living with Alzheimer’s and their families in the future.  

*Commercial construction spending in Georgia has seen significant growth since the pandemic, with the state ranking 7th in per-capita spending and total commercial construction spending in the country. Georgia spends nearly $2,500 per capita annually on commercial construction, representing a five-year increase of 192.5% in total commercial construction investment. The surge in construction spending in Georgia reflects a broader trend of recovery and growth in the commercial construction sector, driven by federal investments and shifting economic priorities.  

*Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced Friday she will not run for Senate, citing the dysfunction of the institution and lack of meaningful change. She criticized Senate leadership and expressed doubt that even with a win, she could accomplish anything as a senator. Greene’s decision follows Gov. Brian Kemp’s announcement earlier in the week that he would not run, leaving Senate Republicans without a top recruit for the race.
