who govern Your flock with unfailing care,
look with mercy upon Your servant, Pope Leo XIV,
whom You have set as shepherd over Your Church.
Grant him, we pray, a spirit of wisdom and understanding,
a spirit of counsel and fortitude,
a spirit of knowledge and piety,
so that he may, with faithful heart and gentle hand,
guide Your people along the way of salvation.
Strengthen him, O Lord,
with Your heavenly grace,
so that he may proclaim the truth of the Gospel boldly,

and inspire the world by the example of holiness.
