AAA Encourages Homeowners “To Be Mindful” and Stay Safe July 4th

AAA is encouraging homeowners to be wary of potential dangers created by various Independence Day activities including barbecues, fireworks, and poolside gatherings.

In a news release from AAA The Auto Club Group, AAA Spokeswoman Montrae Waiters commented on the importance of precautionary measures by saying, “‘While this holiday is a time for joy and celebration, it also sees an increase in home insurance claims due to fires, water-related incidents, and other risks. With so many activities happening at home, it’s crucial for individuals to take preventive measures to safeguard their property and loved ones.’”

AAA offers some tips to prevent injury and damage to property while celebrating the 4th. These include:

  • Always supervising your grill and keeping children and pets at a safe distance
  • Watching public fireworks as opposed to doing them at home and not using alcohol and impairing substances while working with them
  • Having adult supervision and floating devices to prevent accidents in the pool
  • Keeping pets indoors during fireworks displays as they may become stressed
