As work continues to restore power, Jackson EMC linemen are being aided by crews from six outside agencies.
JACKSON EMC STATEMENT:
“Yesterday’s line of storms brought strong wind gusts and heavy rain, resulting in numerous outages affecting our members. The storms caused widespread damage, including downed trees, more than 20 broken utility poles and fallen power lines.
Due to the varied nature of storm damage — from large fallen trees to smaller debris — we’re unable to provide accurate restoration times for specific outages. Each situation is unique and requires a different approach to restore power safely.
Jackson EMC crews have been working around the clock since the storm began. To accelerate restoration efforts, we’ve brought in mutual aid crews from Marietta Power, Flint Energies, and Palmetto Electric Cooperative (SC), as well as additional contract crews from Pike Electric, Gridco and Power Grid.
As of 9:15 p.m., we have outages affecting members in the following counties:
Madison – 1,102
Hall – 889
Jackson – 576
Lumpkin – 437
Banks – 376
Clarke – 233
Barrow – 37
Oglethorpe – 20
