5 injured in boat explosion on Lanier

HALL CO. FIRE RESCUE NEWS RELEASE:

“At approximately 7:00 p.m., Hall County Fire Rescue personnel responded to Lanier Islands Parkway for reports of a boat explosion. Upon arrival, the HCFR rescue boat crew discovered a boat with five foot flames and 5 patients in need of care. 

Personnel worked quickly to remove the patients from the scene and prepare for transport. Four patients were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, one via AirLife. One patient was transported to NEGMC Gainesville. All patients were in stable condition when they left the scene. 

The (fire) was extinguished utilizing a portable pump and also with assistance from Gainesville Fire’s Marine Rescue boat…

The cause of the explosion is unknown at this time and is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.”
