A dedication ceremony was held recently in Forsyth County naming the intersection of Georgia 400 and Settingdown Circle as the Lawhorne Memorial Intersection, in honor of three teenagers killed at the intersection in a 1998 traffic accident.
FORSYTH COUNTY NEWS RELEASE:
Kristi Jayne (18), Tabbatha Rene’ (15) and Karolyn “Karri” Marie Lawhorne (14) died in a car accident
on May 17, 1998, at the intersection in northern Forsyth County, located north of the Settingdown Road
intersection on SR 400.
“To be able to honor the memory of these bright, young ladies that were taken too soon in a tragic
accident, is important for the Lawhorne family but also for us as a community,” said District 4
Commissioner Cindy Mills.
“Kristi, Tabbatha and Karri each left a shining impression on those around them during their lives through
their faith, the sports they played and the friendships they had. We were honored to work with the
Lawhorne family, and our state delegation, to bring this memorial to the community and it is my hope
that it will serve as a reminder to all of how precious life truly is and what a blessing it is.””
