2-4 inches of rain forecast by midweek; high temps near 90 by week’s end

A very slow-moving weather system will funnel moisture into Georgia this weekend and early next week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), with widespread rainfall amounts between 1-4 inches expected by Wednesday. In addition, some limited flooding is possible through mid-week.

“Several round of showers and thunderstorms will lead to rainfall totals in the 1-4 inch range, with local amounts near 5 inches,” the advisory says.

Northwest Georgia is expected to be least affected by the rainfall with higher amounts forecast in northeast Georgia (where 2-4 inches are expected) and the rest of the state. Two-to-three inches are expected in the Gainesville area.

High temperatures will range from the mid-60s Saturday to 89 on Friday.
